Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell responded to Democrat Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s demands regarding the Senate impeachment trial process.
Politico wants you to know that McConnell “pushed back strongly against Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s request to simultaneously agree to witnesses and the parameters of President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial, calling it a ‘strange request’ that breaks with recent impeachment precedent.”
McConnell responded, “It is not the Senate’s job to leap into the breach and search desperately for ways to get to ‘guilty.’”
Schumer responded by saying that McConnell is coordinating with the White House so he wasn’t “fair.”
Oh my sides, these clowns still think the voters want the Republican dupes to play “fair.” We have long departed from “fair.”
It’s good McConnell has put on his big boy pants, if only for a short time.
By the way, the Democrats in the Senate coordinated with the Clinton White House during the Clinton impeachment so they weren’t “fair” either.
The Hill wants you to know “the toxic relationship between Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) has left senators pessimistic about reaching a deal to set the rules of President Trump’s impeachment trial.”
This fills me with such joy, “The problem is the core of the relationship between him and Schumer,” said one Republican senator close to McConnell. “Their history is bad.”
Said Senator Dick Durbin (D-Illinois) “There were clear differences among the 55 Republicans and 45 Democrats 20 years ago, but there was a friendship and an exchange of information on a regular basis that I think really served the Senate well. I don’t think that’s the case with the current leadership.”
If this what you say it is, I love it!
